The Problem
Retaining the company's Director of Operations was important for the company's future growth and its succession plan. The top executives in this small specialty products manufacturer wanted to reduce their involvement in the company and help the Director of Operations add new responsibilities. Key objectives included improving his skills, improving communication and rapport with him, and retaining him.
The Solution
We facilitated the executives and Director of Operations in determining the needs and expectations they had of each other, and then assessed which new skills were needed. One-to-one coaching sessions were conducted separately with the executives and the Director of Operations who received coaching and training in several new areas.
All three executives were coached in communication and team-building skills.
The Results
The Director of Operations continues in his position, has successfully added new responsibilities, and helped the company increase its business 19% last year.
